How did life begin? A question that many philosophers and biologists have been committed to answering. To find an answer, Leyun Wang has done a series of researches.    

As unisexual reproduction is widespread among lower vertebrates, but not in mammals, Dr. Wang clarified unisexual reproductin's mechanism for the first time in the world with mice. The formation of life from a fertilized egg into a complex organism requires multiple divisions. Dr. Wang proved that fate determination occurs at the first cell division of life, which was a tremendously influential achievement.    

For application, Dr. Wang developed haploid stem cells system combined gene-editing technology, which has shortened the time of animal mode preparation greatly and was expected to accelerate drug screening and animal mechanism study for 1-2 years. Meanwhile, achievements in cloning technology has also improved its application in animal breeding.   

Dr. Wang also focused on urgent problems in healthcare such as xenogeneic organ reconstruction and diagnosis of reproductive diseases and had published a series of excellent results.
