When it comes to the supply chain, the first impression is usually logistics and distribution. The scope of the supply chain is much more than that, which also includes product design, raw material procurement, manufacturing, marketing, customer service, recycling, and remanufacturing.
As AI technology quickly gets adopted in the field of supply chain, Dr. Jinfeng Yi, who has an information security background, realizes that the security of the underlying AI algorithms and models is closely related to the safety of people's lives and property, and will eventually affect the large-scale application and promotion of AI. Therefore, he chose AI as the main direction of his Ph.D., dedicated to designing more secure and reliable AI models and creating an effective, inclusive, and safe smart supply chain; achieving significant results.
After attaining his Ph.D. at Michigan State University, Jinfeng joined the IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Center, the global headquarter of the IBM Research Institute, to study the emerging adversarial machine learning problem. As one of the earliest scholars to study this problem, Jinfeng quickly proposed a series of influential works, covering the generation and defense against adversarial examples, and the evaluation of model robustness.
In April 2018, Jinfeng chose to return to China to join JD. Currently, he serves as the Director of the Machine Learning Department at JD Technology and the Head of JD AI Research-Shanghai. During his work at JD, he has won JD’s highest award “CEO Special Award”, as well as two highest technical awards “Outstanding Achievement Gold Award” and “Technology Innovation Gold Award”.
Currently, Jinfeng is leading the team to build the core intelligence capabilities of a smart supply chain platform: "China's National Open Innovation Platform for Next Generation Artificial Intelligence in Smart Supply Chain". In the future, he will continue to take root in the field of promoting the intelligent transformation of the supply chain and the digital upgrade of this industry, leading his team to continuously develop efficient, reliable, and safe intelligent AI products and services.
